Right now, It is available on the two most known platforms, Windows & Mac. The developer of the iTunes itself is Apple, so the security is tight and we can’t do all the things on it.

One of the main cause of using iTunes on Windows or Mac is iOS Devices. In the words of (I think) Art Dudley, the LP is already an obsolete piece of technology, so you don't have to worry about obsolesence.ITunes is one of the famed music player & universal manager as well. Honestly, this is part of the reason why I have a hard time getting into computer audio: the rules of the game seem to keep changing. However, the other day I seem to have fixed the problem by (duh) plugging the damn thing directly to my router. Plus, I've been having problems with it working reliably ever since I upgraded from Windows 7. I was wondering if it made sense to get an external DAC considering that 1) I don't listen to it very often and 2) when I do, it's 320 kpbs mp3 files. My pleasure! As I said, I have mine plugged into my amp and it sounds pretty good. Ain't enough hours in the day.įor those of you with your laptops integrated into your stereo systems, do you have any pictures that show how you've done this?
I like the idea of having all my CDs ripped losslessly and stored somewhere, but I have 2000 CDs, a family, and a job. I think that, considering that I generally listen to LPs and CDs, my approach makes sense. I'm contemplating getting a Dragonfly to hook up between my phone and my amp, but am still on the fence about it. Just in the last couple of weeks, I've downloaded Metal Church XI, The Cure Wish, and Janet Jackson's Janet.

As an Amazon Prime customer, I have access to what appears to be a very large catalog of free music that I've started to take advantage of more frequently. In the words of (I think) Art Dudley, the LP is already an obsolete piece of technology, so you don't have to worry about obsolesence.Īt the same time, I am trying to take advantage of new technological opportunities when they present themselves. All this is necessary of course to make sure you are not pulling the wool over your own eyes!Ĭlick to expand. My pleasure! As I said, I have mine plugged into my amp and it sounds pretty good.
The Crookwood mastering console ties everything together, has 2 x DACs (one for transfer to the analogue chain, one for monitoring all sources), 1 x ADC (for capture from the analogue chain), a VU meter, and a monitor controller and headphone amplifier which can select 4 x digital or 4 x analogue sources at the touch of a button (which can be volume matched to within a quarter dB for A/B comparisons), and they can be sent to one of four different monitoring destinations (different speaker systems, cans etc.) It means in mastering I can very quickly A/B/C/D/E/F/G/H different parts of the mastering chain (analogue and digital stages) exactly volume matched.

I use FB2K on the PC for pleasure listening playback, the digital stream goes out the RME HDSPe AES interface to the Crookwood DAC and then on to my ATC monitors (and very occasionally use the HD600 cans). The desktop PC and the Crookwood console are the main hub of the mastering studio, so everything get listened to through those.
